Nothing intrinsically wrong with being a peasant. Peasants put the food we eat on our table. There are however a lot of problems with being ''doped'' (or unconscious) through tv, religion, sex, drugs, etc... So I understand his message.
'Imagine' was a much better approach though. It got everything across without offending the peasant class.
A modern farmer is no peasant, because a peasant is a term used to describe the type of farmer who just was just one step above a slave during the feudalism systems of medieval times. (not to be confused with the food & entertainment serves medieval times)
John is very English, and in England the feudalism systems where very powerful and are still part of the English heritage. Therefore I do belief that your and Johns vision on what a Peasants "is" might differ causing this slight confusion.
In all honesty, when I made this a few years ago, I copy - pasted the lyrics from site that chose not to include "fucking" and I didnt noticed it. It took me a total of +/- 5 minutes to make so thats why
John was right. He also stated that in his other lovely work 'Imagine'. I feel like the people who are complaining to you are blaming you for John's words. That's just odd. If the world had no religion or tolerated each other's religions without hate, we wouldn't have much to fight about. Therefore there wouldn't be so much war or hate. Make love, not war, right?
Nice work, Tom. John was a true master at symbolic meaning and poetic lyrics, wasn't he?
to me words are just words, no bad words, no fighting words just normal words it is the one who says them makes them good or bad and I am neither a good nor a bed guy, so I always hope people understand and look at what I say under the words that I use
I see what you mean. Like (this is a simple example), there could be two meanings to "I hate you"; if your best friend said it when they learned you did better than them on an exam, it wouldn't be the same as a Nazi telling a Jew the same. I guess it also depends on the situation, huh? Well, since you are neither, your words in certain situations could be thought of as either way, even if you don't mean it one way or the other. It's like "Just sayin'!"
